Jo Malone English Fields

Ice cream, suntan lotion, hot skin and the sea. The smells that, to me, are synonymous with Summer. Now I can add Jo Malone’s newest launches on to that list; English Fields. Although more of a Spring launch, the carefree and gentle notes of these fragrances really give me the Summer vibes. Last week, I was lucky enough to attend a launch event for the new colognes.

Something a little different to Jo Malone. They’ve gone for a beautiful opaque matte bottle with muted tones. Visually, I love the Poppy and Barely one the most; would look stunning on a dressing table. These fragrances are limited edition and like with any Jo Malone launch, won’t be around for long. They come in the 30ml size only and cost £47 ( a little bit more than the solid collection)

We got introduced to each fragrance one by one, learning the notes and inspirations. They’re all very pretty, nothing too masculine or obscure. I usually go for more woody, sexy smells that aren’t for everyone’s tastes. There are 5 in the collection; Primrose and Rye, Honey &Crocus, Poppy & Barley, Oat & Cornflower and Greenwheat & Meadowsweet (trying saying that after a few pornstar martinis). I was drawn to the Primrose and Rye the most. It’s not too floral or sweet for me. The vanilla notes give it the warmth that I long for with really gorgeous bright top notes. This is the kind of fragrance I’d splash on for a Summer BBQ or Spring date night. Very pretty and likeable.

If you didn’t know (where have you been) one of the selling points of the Jo Malone brand is that all the scents are designed to be layered and combined. I already have some favourite combinations (Wood Sage and Sea Salt with WIld Bluebell is lush) so I was excited to try a new combo with Primrose and Rye. Now, I won’t keep banging on about how much I love Wood Sage and Sea Salt but it is my all-time favourite smell EVER. I  went for this as the wash (it smells so warm and salty on the skin, perfect for the Summertime feel I was going for) . I paired it with the Oud and Bergemont Body Oil. A rich, warm, sexy smell to take this combination to the next level.  I already knew I loved Oud and Bergemont but this combination left me SHOOK. I couldn’t stop smelling myself- I urge you to try it.

I’ll let you in on a little secret- I worked for Jo Malone Brighton over Christmas and fell in love even more with the brand. The level of customer service is absolutely excellent and I urge anyone to go in and have a browse (no intimidating staff here!!) Every customer gets invited to a complimentary hand and arm massage where you can discover new fragrances and make new combinations for the ones you already love. Aslo, let’s take a minute for the packaging. It’s all recyclabe so don’t worry about the wastage. I know from experience how hard it is to tie those bows so please show some love to the Stylists who serve you! It was great to get a little personalised sticker and ornament to go with my goody bag, what a lovely touch!

Thank you to Katie, Jo Malone and Wild Mint Cafe for an amazing afternoon. I look forward to hearing what you all think of the new range!
