How To Make Your Spare Room Feel Like A Hotel

I don’t know what it is about hotels. Is it the smell? Is it the adorable miniature toiletries? Maybe it’s the cute coffee sachets… I don’t know. What I do know is that I love hotels and when shopping for homeware I found myself saying ‘hotel vibes’ a lot. Luckily, in my new flat we have 2 spare rooms. I’m using one as a spare room for guests (of which we plan to have a few of!) and one for a laundry/gym/office combo. Here is what we were working with before…

I’ve been working on my guest room on making it feel like a hotel- in a fresh modern way, not an old shabby chic kind of way. Here are my tips on how to achieve this…

If you take a look at my lipstick or candle collection you’ll quickly realize I don’t follow a minimal lifestyle but moving into a new place forces you to be picky with what you pack. When setting up the spare room I went for the less is more approach. Simple bedding, simple decor and keeping the surfaces clutter free. For bedding, we went for neutral colors. This way, we can change up the cushions and throws depending on the season!

So, as previously mentioned, we wanted to go for a bit of a hotel experience. All good hotels have a dressing gown and slippers so I added these simple touches which make a huge difference. I also included an alarm clock, a spare toothbrush and a candle (which I can swap with the seasons). Also, the way I make the bed is inspired by hotels as well. I’ve left a folded bath towel and face towel too which is a must for any over night guests. As I’m extra, I also put a bottle of water and a glass for guests each time they come.

Although most people would bring their own over night things anyway, I think it’s such a luxury to provide guests with special products they’ve never tried before. In all luxury and boutique hotels, they have 1 brand of products that kit out the bathrooms and bedrooms. I’ve decided to do that as well and keep them all the same. I chose to use Bramley as it’s a UK company which is run by the lovely Chloe. The brand was originally created for guest bathrooms and bedrooms and has now expanded to hotels across the world and an amazing online store!

I’ve stocked up my guest room with all the things my friends and family might need to feel at home. It’s such a great brand and all the products work so well and smell delicious, I’m excited for my guests to try them.

The products are formulated with the best quality essential oils to create a beautiful strong scent. My personal favourite is the Lavender, Geranium and Petitgrain which you can find in the hand cream. The scents are so uplifting and really transport you into a spa. I personally use the conditioner, bath salts and body wash and I love them so much! A touch of hotel luxury every day. You can buy these products in the Body Travel Set here for £24, a great price considering one shower gel could cost you £20 in a department store.

So, you’ve got the soft bedding, luxury toiletries and the basic necessities- time to add your own flair. Each hotel has a different personality, whether it’s a massive statement wall, a funky rug or just some posh chocolates on the bed. I’ve decided to put a candle and a diffuser into my spare room as well as some prints that bring all the colours together. The candle is an adorable travel candle from Bramley again. The scent combination is rose absolute, peppermint and spearmint which creates the most stunning spa smell. You can buy the large candle here for £26 or the travel candle set here for £24. The uplifting room diffuser not only looks really pretty but also smells so lovely.

The uplifting room diffuser not only looks really pretty but also smells so lovely. The lemongrass, spearming and marjoram essential oils complemaint the candle perfectly. Buy here for £24. In terms of prints, I went very simple with a blue and a pink print from Tiger.

Thank you for Bramley for working with me on this blog post and making me smile every time I walk into my spare room…

This is such a lovely idea. We don’t have a spare room yet, but we might in a few years (we have an upstairs room in our bungalow that we want to use as a master bedroom, then we’ll have a spare room downstairs!) I kind of want a guest bedroom but I kind of don’t really want anyone to be able to stay with us lol xx
