A Day In Lewes

I feel so lucky that in Brighton we have access to drive to places all over Sussex, hop on a train to London and visit the lovely country sides near by. Last week, my friend Milly and I drove 20 minutes to the lovely quaint town of Lewes. It’s somewhere I’ve only visited a few times in my life and I was excited to return.

It’s a fairly small village full of adorable houses, lakes, castles, and lots of antique stores. It’s a very idyllic place to wander around and pretend you live there! Any high street with individual butchers, bakery, book shop and cheese shop is right up my street!

We spent a few hours wondering around looking at all of the quaint, unique shops that Lewes has to offer. Each one full of their own personality and A LOT of candles.  I was in heaven.  Just look at these shelves stacked with candles, cushions and homemade soaps.

After working up a shopping fueled appetite we headed to grab some cake! I’ve been eyeing up the Flint Owl Bakery on Instagram for a while as it looks like the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the sunshine. It most definitely didn’t disappoint! A whole wall full of cakes, pastries, and bread? Yes please- just look at that selection! I went for an oat milk latte (my current fave) and a gluten free lemon and poppyseed cake. They also offered a good selection of lunch foods but my heart was set on cake.

Filled with cake we had a slow walk back to the car, taking in the sights on the way back.

With a paper bag full of chesse and piccalilli we went back to Brighton. I’ll be back, Lewes! I hope you enjoyed seeing the photos of my lovely day out. Thanks milly for helping me take the pics!!!
