Picnics and Boats

Take a 30-minute drive out of the hustle and bustle of Brighton and you’re hit with cow shit, farmers and cute pubs (in the best way possible). I feel incredibly lucky to live so close to great countryside areas. My friend Milly and I hopped in the car to Barcombe Mills, which is right near Lewes. It’s a cute area with a country pub, a lake and some lovely fields.

For a picnic, I made some simple salads and we bought some snacks too. I love picnic food and packing up a basket full of food is extremely satisfying. This cucumber and mint drink, as pretentious as it may sound,

The selling point for Balcome Mills is the amazing lake that you take a boat down. It’s £6 for one hour where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the calm water. The trees you go past create the most beautiful light and it’s so therapeutic. I highly recommend doing this if you’re stressed out.

We passed loads of other picnic goers on the way and the general vibe of the place is very chilled, relaxed and calm. I have to admit, the rowing was hard work and we worked up a little bit of a sweat! Also, don’t forget your sun cream.

For my outfit, I went for my trusty House of Holland dress, which I can’t find anywhere online. I’ve linked some below that are similar and just as nice. I paired them with converse and all though this isn’t really my style I liked how it looked.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post! Where else in East Sussex should I be checking out?
