My Current Evening Skincare Routine: Dry Skin

Skincare routines are one of my favourite types of posts to read and to write but I haven’t done one for ages! I review skincare products every now and then and I’m still trying new things all the time but the ones that have made it to my routine are tried, tested and loved. (With one exception that I’m powering through as I hate throwing things away!)

My skin is fairly normal but I have psoriasis patches pretty much all over (very dry skin) so I have to cater to that with lots of hydrating products. I steer WELL clear of anything foaming, stripping or highly fragranced and I’ll always try to go for a cruelty-free brand.

CLEANSE

To cleanse my skin and remove my makeup it’s a two step process. I do a cleanse first of all to remove my makeup and all the dirt etc then another cleanse to actually wash my face, really getting into the pores. If I’m wearing heavy eye makeup or got loads of slap on I’ll use the SUKIN MICELLAR WATER (£7.99) which is a lovely, gentle water which sweeps away makeup. I would NEVER do just this as I don’t think it’s cool to ‘cleanse’ without using any water. (P.S this stuff smells like play dough in the BEST way possible.)

Then after that, I move onto the beautiful MOOGOO CLEANSING OIL*(£16.99)which absolutely DESTROYS makeup (Sometimes instead of the micellar water, I’ll do a double cleanse with this) and leaves my skin feeling so soft and cared for. I simply massage a pump into dry skin, massage and rinse off with a warm flannel.

TONE

OKAY so similar to my cleansing method, this is usually a two step process. First I use an acid toner which removes dead skin cells, helps with antibacterial properties and leaves a smooth surface ready for moisturisers. I love the PIXI GLOW TONIC (£18) the best but I’m out of that so I’m using the SUPERDRUG GLYCOLIC ACID PADS (£2.95) which work and they are super gentle but they’re nothing special. These, however, would be amazing if you’ve never used an acid toner and want to try something affordable.

The second step is probably quite unnecessary to some people but I really enjoy it. I use a spritz toner to start the hydration process, awaken me and turn the bathroom into a spa! At the moment I’m using the ROSSI UVEMA LAVENDER AND JUNIPER MIST* (£14.25) it smells so lovely and just leaves a great layer of ‘glow’ over my face- what more can you want.

MOISTURISE

Now onto the final step. It may seem long so far but it honestly takes me 5 minutes! What I apply and leave on my face for the evening is the most important thing, as I like to wake up with my skin still feeling nourished. For serum, I look for something hydrating with hyaluronic acid. I’m using the BAIE BOTANIQUE ROSE RENEW SERUM* (£34) at the moment as it really plumps up my skin and sinks in really well.

For the last step, I either use an oil or a cream. My all time favourite oil is the MOA APHRODITE OIL* (£20) filled with beautiful ingredients that my skin drinks up (Best thing you’ll do for your skin- treat yourself). For a cream I like  EMBROYLISSE LAIT CREME CONCENTRE (£20) which is a lovely, thick and emollient cream which leaves my skin SHINY in the best way possible. It looks lovely under makeup so I use it in the morning as well.

PHEW. That was long. I hope enjoyed reading about the products I use every evening! Thanks so much for reading xx
