So the other day I attended the bloggers event at the newly opened Malmaison hotel in Brighton at the Marina. Thank you so much for Paige and the Malmaison team for inviting me and my Mum along for a lovely evening. I was so excited but I have to say I wasn’t expecting how beautiful the place would be- I loved it. We were really lucky with the weather in the end as it was raining in the morning. I can’t wait to share these images with you so read on to see what I thought about the hotel…
So it was pretty warm so I went out without a coat, which is unheard of in the UK am I right?! I went for the staple outfit of black jeans, a ‘nice top’ with heeled boots. My best friend Keely also lent me this amazing duster coat which I’m obsessed with.
So we were all very lucky and got to sample some tasters from the Spring menu. Everything we had was so lovely. We were given a menu in our goody bags and I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised with the price, it’s very affordable for the quality of the food and the beautiful dining scene. We started with a wild garlic risotto, perfectly creamy and rich.
We then tried the mackerel with sweet potato and a gorgeous mint yoghut. It was really crispy and had a lovely lime flavour. Would make an amazing meal in the height of summer.
We then tried the Chicken breast with rainbow chard and truffle mayo ( I LOVE truffle). In the words of Georgia Knight, it was like a posh chicken nugget!
Okay so here’s where it gets really good 😉 Malmaison offer £5 cocktails on Fridays between 5 and 8pm, which is amazing. We got to sample the prosecco with a lovely liqueur (maybe chambord?) and then the amazing lychee and grapefruit collins, which was so so nice and then finished with a wonderful grapefruit concoction.
One of the major factors that make this hotel stunning is the view. Brighton Marina used to have a bit of a bad reputation for being chavvy, touristy and just really boring. Now it’s all been changed and every time I go there I feel like I’m on a day trip to Canne, sitting next to the boats and looking at the calm water. It looks over the ‘strip’ and all the boats and you can catch the most beautiful sunset in the evening.
Ah gone are the days of boring, white, clinical hotel rooms and plain, cold, unwelcoming function rooms. Just LOOK at the pineapple wallpaper, this place is very cool. They have around 70 rooms which are unique in style and decor and loads of function rooms for baby showers, meeting and birthdays. My favourite part was the gigantic bed (there’s always one div who lays on a perfectly made up bed for a photo).
I also love the detail in the dining area with grey walls, curtain dividers and beautiful wall decor. This would make the perfect place for a date, a family mean, pre dinner cocktials, brunch, birthdays- anything!
Thank you so much for the malmaison team for inviting me to the event. I can’t wait to return and spend a night in one of these amazing rooms!
