After my breakfast post and my dinner post, I wanted to do one for drinks. There’s SO much choice for bars and pubs in Brighton so I’m only going to mention a few that stand out to me. Going to a new bar before a meal out in Brighton is such a lovely thing to do and it’s great when you find a favourite.
Bohemia Bohemia is located right at the start of the Laines, it’s a little bit tucked away. This is definitely the place I’d recommend for a special occasion, as it’s more on the pricey side. The decor is so lovely and they have little light up mirrors which have 50’s icons on them. The porn star martini (my favourite cocktail, my be a reoccurring theme in this post) is amazing and it comes on dry ice, so impressive. ALSO, try here for a fancy breakfast- maybe on a birthday?
Bar Broadway YAASS, this place is like heaven for me and all my musical theatre friends. It’s just a standard bar, doesn’t look like anything special BUT they exclusively play show tunes. They always have performances and drag artists on and I love it. Also, they play Glee every now and then so you’ll have to drag me out. I’ve performed here too and the vibes are great.
The Bath Arms Now, because of its location I feel you could easily miss this one but it’s worth the walk. The thing that attracts me to this place is the location, it’s in the heart of the Laines (next to Casa Don Carlos, Opposite The Font) I just LOVE sitting outside people watching. The staff are friendly and inviting and the menu looks good (I’ve never eaten here, though) It’s such a lovely place on a summers evening, seeing everyone make their way into the Laines. They do a great aperol spritz.
Seven Stars This is a new one to me but it’s so cool. It’s right next to the entrance to Dukes Lane and it doesn’t look like much from the outside. Inside, the decor is so cool and they have a decent choice of beer wine and most importantly- gin. I’ve eaten there too and the mac and cheese is the best one ever, try the crab one or the blue cheese and bacon!
The Connaught People who know me may know why I am slightly biased to this place but doesn’t take anything away from the fact it’s a great pub. Probably the best pub food I’ve ever had! In the winter it’s really cosy and in the summer the garden is great. If you’re in Hove I really recommend going for a pint (or a 1/2 price bottle of prosecco on a Friday?!) and try something from the menu!
SO there are just SOME of my favourite bars in Brighton and there are alot more!
